Biodiversity is the variety of plant and animal life in the catchment.
There are two Catchment Targets for biodiversity. They are that ecological communities of high conservation value are adequately protected.
The second is that in each of the other ecological communities, 12% of the area will be managed for conservation by 2016 and 25% by 2031. |
The Western CMA works towards meeting these targets by funding individuals, groups and organisations undertaking onground works or training contributing to that target through its incentive programs. Click here to read more about our real life achievements in improving biodiversity.
We also coordinate 'broadscale projects' - large undertakings beyond the scope of individuals that are essential for the health of the Catchment. They often involve a considerable financial investment and numerous groups and/or government organisations. Read more about our broadscale projects here:
